Some word´s from our Pastor
Behold,
I have given before you an open door,
and no one can shut it. (Revelation 3:8).
This is the verse that the Holy Spirit has especially quickened to my mind and heart again and again during the course of my ministry as a full time pastor - especially during difficult times. I have learnt from experience that nobody in the entire universe can close the door of ministerial opportunity – not because Christ’s ministers are special people, but because our Lord is so faithful!’’
I was born in Johannesburg, and grew up in a Christian home in Pretoria, South Africa. I remained a nominal Christian for many years. After an intense spiritual struggle that lasted for more than a year, I gained a glorious assurance of salvation at the age of sixteen. I obtained a teaching degree from the University of Pretoria (BA), and an honors degree in Education (B.Ed.) from the University of South Africa. After teaching at a secondary school for seven years, God’s call sensed me to enter the ministry. Thereafter I obtained a Licentiate in Theology from the Kempton Park Baptist Theological Seminary (L.Th.), a Masters Degree in Theology from the University of South Africa (M.Th.), and a Doctorate in Theology from the Rand Afrikaans University (D. Litt. et Phil.). I served the Lord as a pastor and a church planter in my home country for many years. Besides pastoring an established church in Bethal, and another one in Kempton Park, I also planted, and subsequently pastored a church in Secunda for fourteen years. I also planted and pastored a church in Cape Town, and one in Pretoria. I taught New Testament Studies at the Kempton Park Theological Seminary for six years during the same period that I pastored the church in Pretoria. I accepted a call to the Free Reformed Baptist Church in Heilbronn, Germany in January 2008, where I´m still serving as a pastor.
I hava been married to Susanna in 1964. We have no children of our own, but we had three children in foster care for several years – one boy and two girls. All three are confessing Christians.
Johan van Wyk is the author of several books – including one on the nature of the true church, one on the nature of true salvation, and one on marriage. He is also currently involved in Bible translation work for the Bible Society of South Africa together with a team of scholars with a view to the publication of a new translation of the Bible in Afrikaans.
What We Believe
We are a "Reformed Church" in as much as we
embrace, as biblical, that system of theology known as
the Doctrines of Grace. By this expression we mean in
particular the doctrines of total depravity,
unconditional election, definite atonement, effectual
calling, and the perseverance of the saints. We rejoice
in those glorious truths which uphold the sovereignty of
God in the salvation of men, and which so gloriously
affirm the great central reality that salvation is all
of grace, and of the
Lord!
We are “Covenantal”, in that we believe the
scriptures teach us that God the Father covenanted with
God the Son, before time began, to save a people from
the lost human race, to the glory of his marvelous grace.
(John 17:1-2, 6, 9-10; Ephesians 1:4-6) God the Holy
Spirit infallibly brings this purpose of God to pass, in
time. (John 6:37, 44-45; Hebrews 8:6-12)
We are “Creedal”, holding to the 1689 London
Baptist Confession of Faith as a summary of the
essential truths the Scriptures teach. Those who deride
our creed and say they have no creed but the Bible, are
truly afraid to put into print what they believe the
Bible (their creed) teaches, and be held accountable.
We are a “Baptist Church”, confessing that
baptism is for believers only, and that it is properly
and biblically administered by immersion. Under the New
Covenant ‘they shall all be taught of God’ and have a
love for God – the great lawgiver. (John 6:45; Hebrews
8:10-11) All under the New Covenant are conscious of the
new heart, of love for Christ, that has been given them,
and it is their duty to proclaim it publicly in baptism.
Sola
Scriptura
We reaffirm the inerrant Scripture to be the sole source
of written divine revelation, which alone can bind the
conscience. The Bible alone teaches all that is
necessary for our salvation from sin; and is the
standard by which all Christian behavior must be
measured.
Solus Christus
We reaffirm that our salvation is accomplished by the
mediatorial work of the historical Christ alone. His
sinless life and substitutionary atonement alone are
sufficient for our justification and reconciliation to
the Father.
Sola Gratia
We reaffirm that in salvation we are rescued from God's
wrath by His grace alone. It is the supernatural work of
the Holy Spirit that brings us to Christ by releasing us
from our bondage to sin and raising us from spiritual
death to spiritual life.
Sola Fide
We reaffirm that justification is by grace alone through
faith alone because of Christ alone. In justification
Christ's righteousness is imputed to us as the only
possible satisfaction of God's perfect justice.
Soli Deo Gloria
We reaffirm that because salvation is of God and has
been accomplished by God, it is for God's glory and that
we must glorify Him always. We must live our entire
lives before the face of God, and the authority of God
and for His glory alone.

subscribe are set forth in the Second London Confession
of Faith of 1689.
